Understanding Jobs For Teenagers

Allowance, if given one, doesn’t always cover the bill for all the things that a young teen might want to do or buy. Additionally, social activities cost money and the money adds up quickly over time.
This is why many teens are eager to look for jobs that can supply them with additional income, so that they can enjoy their youth the way they see fit. This leads to the question though, what jobs are there for teens?

There are some limitations on how much a teen can work according to the Fair Labor Standards Act. This act was put into place to protect teens from being taken advantage of by companies. The FLSA states:
On a school day, teens may work outside school hours up to 3 hours per day for a total of up to 18 hours a week.
During the summer and when school is not in session, teenagers may work up to 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week.
With the exception of the summer, minors may only work from 7 am to 7 pm. During the summer between June 1 and Labor day, they may work until 9 pm.
